A point of difference - precision agriculture

Point of Difference works with sugarcane growers to optimise nutrient management practices based on the varying soil types within farms, which can improve the efficiency of nutrient and chemical use, and reduce costs for growers.

All participating growers receive a tailored nutrient management plan. These plans are based on high-definition soil variability maps that identify locations where variable rate programs can be introduced into the farm nutrient plan.

There are also small grants available to participating farmers to assist with upgrading fertiliser application equipment. The adoption of more precise and efficient nutrient and chemical management helps growers to implement management practices beyond regulations, which will improve water quality flowing to the Reef.
