The Mackay Whitsunday Regional Landscape Repair Program aims to deliver large scale streambank and gully repair using proven techniques, and coupled with improved groundcover on grazing land aims to reduce fine sediment export to the Great Barrier Reef (GBR). This $26M investment into the Mackay Whitsundays will run through until 2030 with eligible projects prioritised based on historical loss of sediment and cost effectiveness to deliver.
